He is a pleasant and inspiring friend who lives life with a passionate laugh. Raymond Turner kindly initiated a visit to Dublin and established a fruitful cooperation with John Donovan. As a molecular biologist, John took a giant leap into the world of the AEC industry. He acquiescently explained many of the nuances of nature's adaptivity and extensively advised on how to implement them in the context of this thesis. Design is a very complex field of science in which Prof. Horváth is i an authority. His deep insights and nuanced views were as very helpful in completing this thesis. I have learnt a great deal from his dedicated attitude towards science and his modest open-heartedness in our discussions. Although neurosurgery is a very different from AEC design, Prof. Dir-ven empathised himself in the subject and proposed to study the effects of diseases in designers' products. This useful addition has so many aspects that it may serve as an interesting cross-disciplinary subject for future PhD research projects. Prof. Eekhout has an impressive reputation in the art of true one-of-a-kind product development, both as a scientist and as a professional. Being in that exceptional position, he provided me with useful insights about balancing at the edge of innovation and reuse within a competitive environment.
